Image Resizer
Resize any photo to exact pixel dimensions, or scale it by 25, 50 or 75 percent — right in your browser.
What is this tool?
Every platform wants a different image size: a 1080 × 1080 square for Instagram, 1200 × 630 for a Facebook link preview, 1500 × 500 for an X (Twitter) header, or a simple 400-pixel-wide profile photo. This image resizer changes a photo's dimensions to the exact pixels you need, with an option to lock the aspect ratio so nothing gets stretched or squished.
Resizing is also the fastest way to shrink a file for an upload limit: halving the width and height of a photo cuts its area — and usually its file size — by about 75 percent. Like every tool on this site, your image is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded, so personal photos stay private.
How to use it
- Choose an image from your device; its original dimensions are shown.
- Type the new width and height in pixels (or use the 25 / 50 / 75 percent buttons).
- Keep 'lock aspect ratio' on to avoid distortion, then click Resize and download.
Formula & method
Worked example
A 4000 × 3000 camera photo resized to 1200 pixels wide becomes 1200 × 900 automatically with the ratio locked — the standard size for a blog hero image — and the file typically drops from several megabytes to a few hundred kilobytes.
Frequently asked questions
What size should I use for Instagram and Facebook?
Instagram favors 1080 × 1080 for square posts and 1080 × 1350 for portraits. Facebook link previews use 1200 × 630. Resize here to those exact dimensions to avoid awkward cropping.
Can I enlarge a small image?
You can, but enlarging cannot create detail that is not there, so big upscales look soft. For best results, resize down from the largest original you have.
Does resizing change the file format?
The resized image downloads as a PNG to preserve quality. If you need a smaller JPG as well, run the result through our Image Compressor afterwards.
